Once in a flutter, my eyes spotted you
Within a heartbeat, our fondness for each other grew
Like the waves of the roaring sea
Our babble surpassed the multitude of darkness
Promises wrapped in gentle trust
Broken against the hard wall of reality
Excruciating pain, immense joy, and lust
Lay shattered without an ounce of clarity
Should I pick up the pieces to carefully glue them
Or let them be glimmering in the sunshine of hope
